My main contact and dear friend , Gamini Perera, in Sri Lanka finds out where help is needed and starts the preparations .We visit the school two or three times in order to show how the educational materials are used and be there for any follow-up questions. In addition, each child receives a cuddly toy on the first visit and a different present on the second. The visits also give the parents opportunities to choose clothing and toys for their children.
We aim to provide each school with:
- cars/garage - other construction bricks
- play people
- dolls
- imaginative play objects
- jigsaw puzzles (different levels)
- memory/domino games
- games to do with colour, shape and numbers
- finger-paint
- scissors
- paper
- colouring pencils, crayons and felt-tips
- books
- play material for outside
- music instruments
When funding allows, we continue to provide the school with paper, paints and other materials that are needed on a regular basis. We also get input from the resident teacher and try to provide her requests.
